I didn't think that was possible until I checked my account and I had $1.92 in it! Then I looked at my charges and there were 11 withdrawls from China!
I had money stolen from me!!!!!!! I had to go to the bank and fill out all of this paper work! It will take 2 weeks for the money to be put back into my account!
The bank manager said it was most likely from ordering over the internet!

but i'm surprised it takes so long to put the money back into your account---so many banks now put the money back in a few days.
were there any sites in particular that you shopped at lately?

ETA: This why I will not use a debit card over the internet. It scares the he!! out of me.
I only use AMEX.

2 weeks is way too long to get your money back. You should be able to get a provisional credit within the first couple of days.
This happened to me last year...They wiped out $900+ from my checking account...All charges were from Thailand!! I got my $ the same day.

Im sorry this happened, I hope they get you your money fast!
This happened to my aunt, it turns out it had something to do with Paypal. She had an account linked to her checking/debit, and even though she has not used Paypal in years, they somehow got access and took money out of her checking.

OMG that is horrible That happened to me once....someone charged some stuff in Canada and my debit card got denied at the grocery store. I had to charge chicken... The money got refunded pretty quick...I hope you get your money back soon.

Not sure if anyone watched the episode of 60 minutes last night, but it's just as easy...if not easier for hackers to obtain your cc info while you're using it in the store vs the internet.

I use my debit on the internet all the time...just make sure you're using a reputable site. I have never had a problem with paypal...they are OVERLY dilligent in ensuring your security. The biggest way for you to lose your information over the internet is by getting scammed. Never give out your account information or password...EVER. Always make sure there is a lock at the bottom of your browswer...means that its encrypted.
On an aside...I had my debit denied last year while x-mas shopping. Apparently you can only do 10 debit purchases a day. I guess it was a sign that I had to stop shopping

It happened to us in August, someone took out $400 from our bank account using DH's PIN number
Commerce cancelled the card and it took us FOUR weeks to get the money back.

This happened to my mom months back...it took 10 days and the money was refunded. Someone charged GAS throughout texas...just kept filling up a truck and she didn't notice until she checked her bank account. It stinks people would do that. I'm sorry and hope you get your $$ back soon!!!

yeah, I don't use my debit card for anything other than a rare ATM trip. I use credit all the time. It's easier to keep tabs and dispute a charge  I agree with the paypal thing. The rare debit purchase I make is always through paypal.

OMG that stinks. A similar thing happened to us. We had transferred money before going on vacation a few years ago and not a day after the transfer almost all of it was taken out by some guy in Brazil. Luckily we also bought travellers cheques, so we were not broke on the trip. Totally scary though. Luckily the bank was quick to act & we got our money back in a week.
Sorry you had to even deal with this

This happened to us last year but it was only $200. They tracked it to Hempstead, NY and we were living in TX at the time. We rec'd the funds in a about 2 days.
Sorry you had to go through this!
